At OpenDoor our small groups are the hub of our life together as a family - at the very heart of who we are. These small communities within the wider body of the church are the central means by which individuals get connected in and form deeper relationships. Small groups are also a place for growth - providing a smaller context for individuals to develop their spiritual gifts and to serve one another in practical ways.
Our small groups meet midweek in people's homes across the town and surrounding area. The purpose of small group meetings is to facilitate both disciple-making, and disciple-building. Usually time will be spent applying the previous week's preach to our lives, allowing space for discussion and time for prayer. These evenings are not just about us, though. They are an opportunity to re-fix our eyes on Jesus and worship him in creative ways.
Whilst the midweek meeting is important, the life of a small group is by no means measured solely by the meeting. Small groups are designed to reflect the model of community that we see in the early church - where believers shared daily life together in a very real and deep way.
Our desire is that everyone who comes to OpenDoor, as well as attending the Sunday Celebration, gets involved with one of the small groups so they can experience a sense of community and form solid relationships with other members of the church.
