Story So Far

» Small Beginnings.........1995

Opendoor Church began in 1994 when a small group of Christians felt stirred by God to leave Brickhill Baptist Church in Bedford and start a new work in St Neots. For the first few months the group meet in St Neots during the week and in Bedford on Sundays. As God added people from St Neots to the group the church was officially launched in February 1995.

» Rapid Growth

Over the next few years the Opendoor Church saw wonderful growth with many people becoming Christians, baptised in water and added to the church community. By 2000 the Sunday attendance had reached well over 220 adults and children with about 35 of these travelling from the St Ives/Huntingdon area to the north of St Neots.

» Planting Out

God then spoke to the leaders of the church about planting a new church that would serve the St Ives/Huntingdon area. So in February 2001 a group were sent from St Neots to start The Bridge Church. The growth did not stop there as soon after this the leader of The Open Door Church, Tony Thompson, felt called by God to return to his home town of Luton to start a new church. Tony gathered a team from St Neots and other churches in the Newfrontiers family and in February 2002 Hope Church was planted in Luton. After more promptings from God another church was planted in Biggleswade in September 2006, this church is called New Life Church........listen to the video testimonies  Andy Moyle, leader of the Gateway Church, Kings Lynn (itself a plant from The Bridge Church) and from Scott Else, leader New Life Church on this history and hopes for the future.

» More Recently..............2009

God has done many great things through Opendoor Church and we know he has not finished yet. Recently God has been speaking to the church about not being satisfied about what has happened in the first 14 years of the church but to dare to believe for even more  We feel called to the centre of the town and to serve the whole town; as well as to reach out beyond to the surrounding areas; across the region; supporting the work of NewFrontiers across the UK and to reach out to the Nations.

We now meet in the largest venue in St Neots, The Priory Centre, and God continues to grow and stretch us and we know there is so much more to come.....
